Steel plate is the main structural metal, smelted in a Smelter from iron plate and carbon, or straight from iron with carbon and oxygen. More designs use it than any other item. It goes into frames, pumps, containers, panels, tanks, drill heads, antennas, seals, ammunition and exotic alloy, and directly into many ships, stations, facilities and fittings. Steel takes longer to smelt than iron plate.
