BOMBER

G5

> ANALYSIS ship design.

The bomber is a strike craft that carries a torpedo to large ships. A Shipyard builds it from composite, thrusters and steel plate, as an item that goes into the station's hold rather than as a ship.

A ship fitted with a hangar launches bombers in a fight, each loaded with torpedoes from that ship's hold. A bomber flies from its carrier on its own to close range of its target, then makes a run before it drops. Its torpedo lands at once and cannot be intercepted, but it hits less than one from a torpedo bay. During the run point defence near the target can shoot the bomber down, and a bomber pushed out of range starts its run again. A bomber cannot aim at anything smaller than a destroyer. When the fight ends, it lands on its carrier and returns to the hold as an item, and the carrier repairs any damage from its own hold.
