DEEP_DRILL

G6

> ANALYSIS facility design.

The deep drill is a station facility that mines below a body's surface. It works only in a surface base. It first takes from the deep deposits its owner has found at that body, then from the layer under the outer one, which no ship in orbit can reach. Orbital miners and a deep drill can therefore work the same body at once, one from the outer layer and the other from below. A core tap starts from the core instead and works outward.

It is built from drill heads, motors and a heavy frame, and draws power only while it drills. It stops when the station's hold is full or nothing is left below the surface.
