Fuel is a liquid resource that ships burn to move and stations burn for power. It is the only source of either.
Uses
- Every move, and every jump along a route, burns fuel from the ship's tank. A jump through a gate pair burns none; it burns jump charges instead.
- Every running generator or fusion reactor burns fuel from its station's hold.
- Torpedoes are made with it.
Burnt fuel becomes exhaust.
Production
A Refinery makes fuel two ways: from carbon, found in every tier, or faster from hydrogen and oxygen, which are split from water melted from ice.
Handling
Any ship fills its own tank at one of its owner's docks, at an ally's dock opened to allies, or from a tanker or the hull alongside. Only a tanker or the hull hands fuel to another ship or takes it aboard as cargo. The hull starts with a full tank; every other ship starts empty.
