MONITOR

G4

> ANALYSIS facility design.

The monitor is a station facility that watches the Infonet segment its station is in, or every segment it borders when its station holds a firewall. It records incidents as they happen: packets blocked at the segment's firewalls, lost or left waiting, other sides' packets passing through, relays lost and segments cut. Once a minute it also records each relay's traffic by sender's side and kind of packet.

Reports

It sends what it records as a report packet, to its owner's hull or to a chosen data warehouse. A report travels like any other packet, so it can be held up, lost or blocked on the way.

Construction

It is built from sensors, a processor and frames. A relay or a Forward HQ can hold one. It draws power all the time, and records nothing while unpowered or while its station is disabled.
