ICE MOON

NOTE

> STATUS reference note.

An ice moon system has one giant planet holding a large part of the system's mass, circled by a crowd of icy moons. Where ice can condense, the giant and its moons are mostly ice; inside the frost line no ice formed and they are rock. The giant is settled, so its ice forms its outermost layer. On a moon with low gravity, ice that warms past its sublimation point sheds into a trail through sublimation.
