FRAGMENT

NOTE

> STATUS reference note.

A fragment is part of the inside of a body that broke apart, on an orbit slightly inside or outside the old one. It is made by Collision. Its surface is what was the broken body's interior, so a collision can expose material that lay deep. Any sites in the broken body go with its first fragment. A fragment of a moon still orbits the moon's planet. Worldgen also places fragments in Shattered systems, with their dense cores on the surface.

A fragment keeps its kind whatever it is made of: the kind rules skip it, as the kind records where it came from.
