COMET CLOUD

NOTE

> STATUS reference note.

A comet cloud system has a cloud of small icy bodies on long, stretched orbits beyond its other bodies. When one swings near the star it warms, and sublimation sheds its ice into a trail behind it; far out it stays cold. Their orbits cross those of the rest of the system, so they can meet other bodies.
