Slingshot is the world rule by which a light body that passes fast and close by a much heavier one can be flung out of its system, becoming a rogue. The body leaves along the route closest to the direction it was heading, drifts between systems for a time, and the star at the other end captures it into a long, stretched orbit. Slingshots are rare.
Conditions
- Ships at the body go with it, and so do its moons.
- A body with a station at it stays in place, and so does a star.
- A moon is not flung out by its own planet.
- The heavier body keeps its orbit. See Collision for a pass that becomes a hit.
