An ice field is a body smaller than a planet that is more than half Ice by mass. Ice condenses only beyond the frost line, the distance from a star beyond which its light leaves ice frozen, so ice fields lie in the outer part of a system. An ice field that sublimes down to rock becomes an Asteroid Field.
A body's kind is checked again whenever a world event changes it.
